Message from the President

We made it, Cougars! It’s hard to believe the end of the year is upon us. As usual, I am forever impressed with how our parents step up to bring so much to our school. Thank you to those who volunteered with Art a la Carte, Watch DOGS, and Career Day, and to those who plan to help with Field Day, Parent Breakfast, and class parties. We also appreciate the participation in our annual auction. As I end my two-year term as president, I’d like to extend my appreciation to the CWE administration and teachers. They have always been willing to engage with parents and to assist with our programs. Over the past two years they have bent over backwards to ensure our kiddos still had the enriching opportunities the PTA provides. I’d also like to extend my gratitude and awe to the members of the PTA board. The pandemic presented unusual challenges for our team, and despite the chaos and extra needs of their own families, these ladies and gentlemen stepped up. They were extremely innovative, dedicated, and unwavering, and I know that all of our community has benefited from their efforts. Let’s have an amazing last month of school together. I wish you all a happy and safe summer!

-Lisa Rasmussen, PTA President

Nurse Scott Retires

Thank you and congratulations to Nurse Scott on her retirement.  Nurse Scott served CWE for 22 years and FBISD for 25 years!

May 9th is Nurse Appreciation Day.  Let's show her how much she means to CWE.

VIPS Of The Year: Gayathri Nandakumar

We would like to congratulate our VIPS of the Year, Gayathri Nandakumar! Gayathri has been serving this year as 1st Vice President in charge of programs. She has been vital in working with the chairs and administration for multiple programs, such as Hands on Science, Art a la Carte, Art Reflections, Teacher Appreciation, World Culture Day, and Field Day! She has scheduled several school wide assemblies, such as the BMX program, Crocodile Encounter, etc. Gayathri serves on multiple committees and is the Lead Room Representative for third grade. She is always willing to volunteer, and you can count on her to be there wherever we need help! A huge thank you to Gayathri for everything you have done for CWE this year!

March Volunteers of the Month

Congratulations to Pooja Srivastava and Lindie Johnston who were both selected as our VIPS of the month for March! Pooja has been working hard behind the scenes to increase our sponsorships, which helps supply funds for our many programs! She has been a huge help in preparing for Hand On Science, as well as Art A La Carte, some of our favorite programs for the kids! She has also been a huge help as a room representative. Thank you, Pooja, for all you do to support CWE!

Lindie has been heading up our amazing Art a la Carte program this year! She has organized the program, getting the art supplies together, getting the volunteers organized and trained, and getting the kids excited! She created the art project idea, and was able to not only help the kids learn about surrealism and gain an increased love for art, but did it in a way that helped to unify the school as the kids learned to recognize the importance of each of us. Thank you, Lindie, for sharing your love of art and creating an incredible art program this year!

April included Volunteer Appreciation Month. We are so appreciative to all of our volunteers! Whether you're in the classroom, supplying our teachers with treats or school supplies, on the board, or finding other ways to support our schools, we appreciate you! We could not be the school we are without your help. Thank you, Volunteers! You are amazing!

Just a reminder to submit your volunteer hours for April. You can do this either through the PTA website or email the VIPS coordinator directly at volunteercwe@gmail.com. Remember that volunteer hours are anything you do for the school outside of the school (as those hours are captured and reported directly to the District via Raptor). This includes attending PTA meetings, spending time at the teacher center to help your teacher, helping to prep materials for programs like Hands on Science or Art A La Carte, etc. Let's continue to show the district how much wonderful parent support we have!

Shelley, VIPS Coordinator

Record Volunteer Hours

Remember to complete your background check so that you can volunteer in the school! We love to have our volunteers, and the District requires all volunteers to have a background check to keep our kids safe! You can do this by going to the district website at https://www.fortbendisd.com/Page/131868 and follow the directions for the Volunteer Criminal History Application.
